Abstract
A four-cycle diesel engine was employed to measure performance changes due to variations of the point pressure and circularity of the compression rings. A statistically designed experiment was used to control the testing and analyze the data obtained.
Results indicate, with 90% assurance, that changes in point pressure and circularity do affect the performance of this engine and that an interaction exists between the two variables. All testing was carried out at 2200 rpm and 220 bhp.
