Abstract
The future acceptance and expansion of the VTOL, especially in its newer configurations, lies in its meeting the economics of the user. The commercial operator is especially influenced by these considerations.
The use of the function-cost-creative approach of value engineering is a valuable means to effect cost reductions with equal or improved value. This can and should be done at the conceptual as well as the subsequent periods. Actual projects are presented to show the application of value engineering at the different stages.
