Abstract
Three types of additive aircraft oils have been introduced during the past several years and approved by the manufacturers of engines for which they are suitable. The functions of the additives are described, and the advantages provided in terms of engine condition and performance are discussed and illustrated by examples as a result of extensive experience with oils incorporating the additives.
The approach to the subject matter is oriented toward the interests of private and corporate operators of aircraft, but some use is also made of information from airline and military sources.
