Abstract
Beryllium component manufacturing technology and some test results from a recent Brush-General Electric cooperative design evaluation program are presented, along with the design justification for continued effort to develop beryllium into a reliable material for gas turbine components. The data from this program is generally encouraging, but two major problem areas of impact and corrosion were identified. Recommendations are made on specific areas requiring additional effort before the material can go into production in gas turbines.
