Abstract
The requirements for Army industrial type gas turbine air cleaners are established. Conventional air cleaners are not suitable, because of their large size, weight, and pressure loss. To provide the technology for compact, low loss, highly efficient air cleaning, USAERDL conducted concurrent development programs for an advanced inertial type air cleaner and a high-efficiency, compact, filter type air cleaner. In addition, a unique cleaner was designed and developed for a particular Army application. Results show that the stringent requirements can be met through further development effort.
