New Superalloy Sheet for Use in the 1700-2100 F Temperature Range

Abstract
Two high strength nickel base casting alloys, Inco 713c and NASA TaZ8 alloy, have been successfully reduced to sheet form by a new direct rolling process developed for this purpose. These new superalloy sheet materials have useful tensile strength and oxidation resistance in the 1700-2100 F temperature range. Inco 713c rolled and heat treated sheet is ductile and fabricable at room temperature. Preliminary tests indicate that this material is weldable by the inert gas shielded tungsten arc process. This paper presents the available tensile and oxidation test data for these new sheet materials, and compares them with comparable data for some superalloys and columbium alloys which are among the best now commercially available.
