Abstract
Various types of pumpless injection systems are described; they include the L’Orange system, the Chapman injection system, systems of the Indian Institute of Science, and the Witzky system. The injection process of the latter system is explored in detail in terms of theory, test equipment, visual observation of injection, the effect of nozzle orifice diameter on injection, and economy. Test results of the Witzky pumpless injection system on a 4-cycle single cylinder engine and 2-stroke cycle engine are presented.
