Abstract
A review of the various considerations in selecting a truck vehicle shows important ones to be power train (engine, clutch, transmission, propeller shafts, and rear axle,) and chassis, (axle load, spring load, steering gear, frame, and brakes). Examples with calculations are given for determining required horsepower, transmission, weight distribution, axle loads, and frame design.
