Abstract
Abstract
Design and performance information as well as results of tests carried out with Burmeister & Wain-Alpha Diesel controllable-pitch propellers are presented. Mentioned are the value of the expression kg/bhp as measurement of tow-rope pull, dimensioning of controllable-pitch propellers, the significance of pitch ratio, as well as wake and thrust deduction for the pull obtainable.
A method is stated for calculation of the blade turning moment and the components of which it consists, also when considering the influence of cavitation. The design of controllable-pitch propellers and the reversing and coupling cylinders for B & W Alpha Diesel engines is also shown.
