Abstract
The basic shortcomings of landing vehicles during and after World War II was their limited water speed. With the development of landing vehicle LVHX2 in 1963, speeds of amphibians with hydrofoils now are in the 20-35 knot range.
This paper presents detailed data pertaining to the LVHX2. The mode of operation on land, surf, and sea as well as pertinent information on the powerplant and construction features are discussed. The LVHX2 illustrates the feasibility of mounting a hydrofoil as an integral part of an amphibious vehicle.
