Abstract
There are difficulties associated with the application of electronic computing methods to the solution of smaller engineering problems. The smaller problems which represent by far the largest segment of analytical effort within the industry have, to date, received the least attention with regard to electronic computing; and, therefore, should represent one of the more fertile areas for its application. A sizeable portion of the analytical effort presently accomplished manually could more economically be accomplished by use of electronic computers. Furthermore, it is suggested that this can be done by realizing a fuller utilization of presently existing computer facilities, particularly within the larger engineering organizations. There are several obstacles to a fuller utilization of electronic computing. Methods for reducing them are presented.
