Abstract
The total-count method, employing a Geiger counter and a radioactive gas, krypton-85, has been used to measure pulsating engine air flow. It gives absolute values with an accuracy of 3% without the need for calibration against standard flows. No restriction of the flow is necessary in the measurement. The method can be used without modification over a wide range of air flows.
