Abstract
THE problems encountered in the design of longitudinally stiffened wing compression panels are summarized, and the extensive experimental investigations of the strength of such panels conducted by the NACA are reviewed.
The development of design charts, based on the test data obtained in these investigations is described, and the importance of the proper selection of parameters for the chart is emphasized.
Several illustrative examples are presented to show how the most suitable panel proportions for a particular application may be selected from the charts.
