Abstract
IN this paper, which won the 1947 Award of the Horning Memorial Medal, Mr. Pilger describes a test technique for conducting controlled road tests in overload, highway trucking service.
The procedure permits the evaluation of motor oil, gasoline, engine design, and operating factors in terms of engine varnish, sludge, and bearing corrosion problems.
Eleven prepared discussions of Mr. Pilger's paper are available from SAE Special Publications Department, 29 West 39th Street, New York 18, N. Y., at 25¢ to SAE members and 50¢ to nonmembers.
