Abstract
REVIEWED here by Mr. Rendel is the field of internal-combustion engines and their fuel requirements, together with the field of refinery operations as they will exist for the next few years.
The author also discusses some of those problems that both the engine and the petroleum industries will have to settle cooperatively, such as the still troublesome detonation and its exact measurement, preignition, and the interpretation of laboratory ratings of octane numbers in terms of actual road performance.
