Abstract
POST-WAR engines, Mr. Hartzell feels, will have about a 9:1 compression ratio.
If the ignition systems on these engines are to function satisfactorily, the author suggests that manufacturers make the following provisions:
-
1.
Waterproof the ignition system.
-
2.
Provide the lowest possible capacity to ground in the secondary system.
-
3.
Use aluminum oxide spark-plug insulators.
-
4.
Use a 12-v system.
-
5.
Keep the breaker compartment free from oil vapors and dirt.
