Abstract
A semi-active suspension system (SASS) uses a damper whose damping rates can be varied automatically, by the influence of an electromagnet, in real-time according to the continuously changing road conditions. The method by which the damper is controlled is one of the crucial factors that ultimately determine the success or failure of it. In order to achieve success, the rear suspension damper is controlled based on the inputs from sensors placed at front part of a vehicle using H✓ Skyhook Input-Based control. The test vehicle is an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) used in the standard of BAJASAE. This study includes a suspension system comprising of two controllable magneto-rheological dampers, associated sensors and controller. This paper reports the simulation result and performance of input-based control of SASS fitted in a full car model.
