High Pressure Poppet Injector with Electronic Flow Rate Control and Spray Guiding

Abstract
An outwardly opening poppet injector with electronic flow rate control and spray-guiding technology (FlexiJector™) has been designed and bench tested at pressures up to 1500 bar. Electronic control of instantaneous flow rate was verified using a rate tube. Spray photographs show promise of very good fuel/air mixing in the area near the nozzle where rich combustion often causes soot formation in diesels.
