Study on Prediction Method of Vehicle Indoor VOC Concentration~A Basic Study Using Interior Parts

The purpose of this study is to construct a prediction method of vehicle cabin VOC (volatile organic compounds) concentration. Several methods are used for evaluating amount of VOC emission from interior parts and materials. But measurement conditions vary with the kind of method, so it is not easy to predict vehicle cabin VOC concentration from the obtained VOC value of component parts. In this paper, we focused toluene concentration by using bag method and investigated the relationship between amount of VOC emission and measurement condition. In this study, we brought out that the contained amount of VOC in parts and adsorptive capacity of the parts could describe VOC emission rate. We developed a novel method for predicting the contained amount of VOC and adsorptive capacity. This enables the prediction of the amount of VOC emission.
