Abstract
A simplified finite element model of a multi-layered structure for sound-proof media is created to reduce interior noise level such as road noise. The model is verified by measurements to quantitatively predict the acceleration and the sound pressure responses up to 2 kHz. Numerical experiments are performed for various multi-layered structures by using 3 porous materials and 1 visco-elastic material. An improved multi-layered structure has proved to reduce the overall of interior sound pressure level with less weight than a conventional multi-layered structure.
