Benefit Estimation for Lane Departure Warning System Using ASSTREET (First Report)~Lane Departure Collision Representation
Published May 23, 2012 by Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan in Japan
In advance to estimate the benefit of the lane departure warning (LDW) system, the event without LDW was modeled. The sequence was divided into 5 phases: (1) before departure, (2) starting the departure, (3) while running off lane, (4) at the impact with an object, and, (5) after the impact. Each phase was modeled based on the traffic accident analysis conducted by ITARDA (Institute for Traffic Accident Research and Data Analysis). The simulator ASSTREET (Advanced Safety System & Traffic REaltime Evaluation Tool) was used for lane departure reproduction. The result was verified with the traffic accident statistics.
