Consideration about the Formation of the Emotional Image of the Warning by the Sound
Published May 23, 2012 by Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan in Japan
This paper describes three following experiments for the design of intuitive auditory signals. In the first study, we carried out an experiment to memorize assigned meaning by sounds with the visual information. In the second study, we carried out an experiment to examine relationship among frequency, period, and impression of the sound about emergency and seriousness of the information. In the third study, we carried out an experiment to relate between acoustic properties and the functional imagery of the information. The experimental results showed that the emergency was correlated with the period, and the seriousness was correlated with the frequency. Then the functional imagery of the information can be transformed in three principal components, Positiveness, Seriousness, and Emergency, by principal component analysis. Moreover, our experimental results showed that they correlated with Pitch-interval and Pitch-pattern.
