Abstract
The paper provides an overview of introducing CAN instruction within an engineering education environment for computer, electrical and mechanical engineering majors. The paper outlines suggested CAN content, presents specific learning activities, and identifies possible CAN software and hardware resources. The Vector CANoe, MATLAB Vehicle Network Toolbox, and Lab VIEW CAN software environments are introduced as possible CAN software environments, and specific example course information is presented including information on learning activities and assessment outcomes. The intent of the paper is to encourage faculty to consider integrating CAN instruction within engineering education.
