Abstract
The aim of this work was to investigate the application of Dynamic Vibration Absorber in the automotive industry, such it is a simple, low cost, lightweight, easy installation and high lifetime solution. A dynamic model of two degrees of freedom was created consisting of a main mass disturbed by a harmonic excitation and a DVA. Through numerical implementation, a methodology was established, making use of the software Pro-Engineer™, to aid the designers in making decisions when facing a problem in which a significant amplitude at a given frequency disturbs the vehicle passengers. The solution of such problems through the adoption of reinforcements or other structural changes becomes unfeasible in the auto industry since, in most cases, the projects are already at an advanced stage requiring simple solutions and rapid implementation. The methodology is based on the Fixed Points Theory indicating which parameters should be changed depending on the desired profile of the frequency response function. It is an interesting source for the development of future works looking at its improvement and practical application.
