Shape Optimization of Engine Intake Port by Using Adjoint Method

In order to develop products which satisfy various demands for a limited period, shape optimization technology utilizing CAE attracts rising attention. In this study, we developed an innovative shape optimization technology by using adjoint method in order to reduce computational cost and the difference in the quality of obtained shape, which are the problems of conventional shape optimization method. Present technology was applied to design of engine intake port. As a result, optimized shape equivalent to conventional method was able to be obtained in several iterations.
