Development of High-Capacity Li-Ion Battery for New Electric Vehicle
Published October 12, 2011 by Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan in Japan
We have been emphasizing electric-powered technology with a focus on advanced lithium-ion battery from 1992. Since 1997, we introduced the Advanced EV with lithium-ion batteries on board to the Japan market. Over the next few years, several hundreds of electric-powered vehicles were introduced to the Japan and US market. Based on these experiences, we have been improving lithium-ion battery technologies. Manganese cathode and laminated cell structure solve problems to apply battery for automotives. The first of the world mass-produced lithium-ion battery EV will be introduced from FY2010. In this session, we will describe high-capacity lithium-ion battery for new electric vehicle.
