Light Weight and Low Friction Technology in Valve Train System~Valve Spring of Beehive Type and Compact Retainer

A shape of valve spring of beehive type and the valve spring retainer has been optimized to improve the friction by reducing a weight of the valve train system, and adopted it on a newly developed 1.6L, L4 turbocharger engine.
This paper introduces an outline and technology of the valve spring of beehive type and the compact retainer, and effects by this technology.
