Abstract
Car interiors are drawing significant attention of the customers. With ever growing competition, balancing cost & weight with enhanced quality has become a challenge, especially when designing for low cost cars. Car interiors must appear in excellent condition, to maintain good resale value. Particularly, carpet should not look worn out / abraded. Used-car buyers will assume that if the carpet looks worn, rest of car is worn.
The objective of the present work is to analyze the effect of material specifications & process variables on the abrasion performance of the needle punch non woven carpet with optimization of cost, weight & appearance.
