Abstract
In this paper, the effects of liner temperature and oil film thickness distribution around cylinder on the evaporated oil from the liner were examined by using the developed oil evaporation model in consideration with cylinder bore deformation. Moreover, the calculated evaporative oil was compared with the measured oil consumption of a gasoline engine. The results showed that the calculated oil evaporation from the cylinder wall closely corresponded to the measured oil consumption. The majority of measured oil consumption is the oil evaporated from the cylinder wall.
