Evaluation of Driver's Attention Using the Reflex Eye Movements of Individuals in a Wide Range of Ages
Published September 29, 2010 by Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan in Japan
This study proposes a method to quantitatively evaluate influence of driver distractions by using changes of the characteristics of a reflexive type of eye movements. In this paper, in order to show the effectiveness of our method, participants in their 20s to 50s were tested. The results show that first, in general, information processing demands and the changes of the reflex eye movement were positively correlated. Second, the changes of the reflex eye movement characteristics were different depending on individual characteristic. In addition, we improved the calculation method to estimate the distraction level.
