Development of the Safety Impact Methodology (SIM) for Effectiveness Estimation of a Pre-Crash Safety System (First Report)~Crash Speed Reduction Estimation Based on the Results of DS Experiment and Actual Vehicle Test

Event: JSAE Spring Conference
The method to estimate crash speed reduction was established by combining both drivers' response and pre-crash safety system's function. Drivers' response to rear-end collision warning was measured on the driving simulator using more than a hundred drivers. The system's function was modeled as a transfer function based on the actual vehicle test result. The estimation method enables to compare the quantitative benefit between various system specifications.
