Calculation Method of the Hydrocarbon Diffusion in Activated Carbon Canister

The activated carbon canister is mainly used as a storage device of hydrocarbon vapor from the fuel tank. The aim of this study is, to develop a canister with improved performance by decreasing the amount of hydrocarbon diffusion. Experiment results of the hydrocarbon diffusion in the canister and the behavior of butane, a major component of hydrocarbon, are reported in this research. A calculation method of hydrocarbon diffusion is derived that can predict canister performance.
