Thermal spray coating is one of the wear resistance modification methods of the aluminum casting. In general, wear resistance of the coating is improved by densifyign and hardening the coating material, but it is not a rare case that other friction performance deteriorates reversely. In the cermet thermal spray coating, relationship between the coating specification in the large range and the demand friction performance are clarified. HV hardness has a high correlation with friction performance such as wear resistance and scuff limit, and it can be an indicator to determine the coating specification corresponding to the demand friction performance.
