FEM Analysis Considered Nonlinear Stiffness Distribution in Contact Region on Disk Brake Squeal

On disk brakes, nonlinear stiffness distribution depends on the load in the contact region. We therefore measured the nonlinear characteristics and took this load dependence into account for FEM analysis. Then, we confirmed the results of our analysis by discerning that the range of frequency and hydraulic pressure was closer to our experimental results than an analysis which was based on linear distribution of stiffness.
