Abstract
In this study, the 1-D chemical reaction model of urea-SCR catalyst is developed to analyze the optimum urea injection strategy towards reduction of NOx in the catalyst. Numerical results indicate that NH3 slip from SCR catalyst can be reduced without serious degradation of NOx conversion by controlling urea injection patterns with modeling the amount of adsorbed NH3 around the center of catalyst in the axial direction under engine operating conditions including SCR inlet temp., GHSV, throttle position, NOx mole fraction, NO2/NOx ratio.
