Abstract
The effect of Lean NOx Trap (LNT) on the turbo-intercooled 6-cylinder engine is examined in the transient JE-05 test mode. This engine uses high-boost, wide-range and high EGR system then NOx emission before LNT is thoroughly reduced below 1.0 g/kWh. The fuel dosing system is installed at the exhaust pipe before LNT in order to make a rich condition. Also, the control logic of the fuel dosing system is designed, LNT is effective when NOx of the engine out is greatly decreased. Also, 80% NOx was reduced by LNT with 2.4% fuel penalty in the transient JE-05 test mode by controlling a rich spike from the fuel dosing system.
