Study of MEA Durability Testing Protocol
Published May 20, 2009 by Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan in Japan
Event: JSAE Spring Conference
Demands for the improvements of performance and durability as well as cost reduction of FCVs lead to the development of new materials such as catalysts and membranes. For the purpose of these developments, various methods to evaluate the durability of a new material have been proposed by FCCJ, USFCC and DOE. Japan Automobile Research Institute (JARI) has developed the JARI's standard single cell with which the validity verification of these methods has been carried out. It was found that membrane durability test, carbon corrosion test and catalyst stability test are effective accelerated MEA durability testing protocol as first screening test.
