Effects of Mechanical Properties and Geometry on Crash Performance

By using both numerical analysis and physical test, the effects of the work hardenability, WH and the geometry varied in the press forming and the assembling processes on crash performance were clarified, which was subject for the front end module of mass produced automobile. Necessity of considering the real properties of assembled parts including WH, thickness change and the geometry was identified to predict the load-time responses with high accuracy by numerical analysis. As a result, the new numerical analysis method was proposed to improve the accuracy of crash simulation.
