A New Efficient Methodology for the Dynamic Analysis of Vehicle Sound Package Soft Trim Components

While the efficient FE simulation of solid and fluid materials in the automotive industry is nowadays a well-assessed process, the simulation methods for porous materials still have room for improvement and are difficult to be completely integrated into the standard vehicle NVH simulation workflow, which in the FE domain of applicability is typically carried out by means of MSC.Nastran.
Aiming at supporting the effective solution of this problem, this paper shows the results of a new approach for the FE simulation of porous layers extensively used in vehicle sound package soft trim components.
