Abstract
This article describes vehicle development processes with special emphasis on the NVH aspects of the development. A key portion of the NVH development process is the use of an approach called Vehicle Interior Noise Simulation (VINS) to satisfy different needs during the development process. VINS is based on an analytical method which divides the total interior noise into audible noise shares from different paths. VINS also allows for each path to be further broken down into source and transfer function components, so that the vehicle's NVH behavior can be understood and optimized. VINS establishes a highly effective platform for dedicated assessment of simulation and physical test results, benchmarking, target-setting and countermeasures in the entire development process from concept to production.
