In the development of passenger cars much subjective testing is involved. Although many OEM-specific objective tests exist, a neutral one with absolute rating is not available. FEV has developed parameters for longitudinal, lateral and vertical dynamic of passenger cars. Two important objective metrics, steering response and secondary ride comfort, are discussed in this paper. The metrics are based on investigations with more than 10 different vehicles, focused reflecting the bandwidth from sub-compact to luxury cars. The cars were subjectively assessed by more than 20 persons and objectively measured. The parameters base on statistical regression analyses and correspond to the subjective ratings. The relation between separate sub-properties is maintained, so that optimization measures can be directly focused.
