Abstract
NASA has been developing an open loop spacecraft spray evaporative heat sink for use in space. The Compact Flash Evaporator System (CFES) was tested in Vacuum Facility 12 (VF12) at NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC), and also in the manlock of Chamber B at NASA Johnson Spaceflight Center (JSC). The concept uses distributed water spray nozzles impinging on a flat plate. The testing results at both GRC and JSC will be reported.
