Abstract:

Tire durability can be guided by fracture mechanics, where stress and temperature state in rubber play a key role. The temperature influences the fatigue metrics, such as crack propagation speed, with a significant nonlinearity, therefore temperature reduction in the visco-elastic media is known to be effective in enhancing the product life.
This paper introduces a new method to reduce the temperature by increasing the heat transfer across tire sidewall surface.
