Abstract
A solid particle counting system has been used to investigate the soot emission behavior from different vehicles with different aftertreatment technologies. It was found that all the tested diesel vehicles with diesel particulate filter emitted significant amount of soot particles within the first stage of the driving cycle. Once the vehicle and the DPF warned up, soot emission decreases drastically. Meanwhile, direct injection gasoline vehicles without filter emitted higher soot particles during the entire driving mode.
