Analysis of Road Forces on Rolling Tire Using Triaxial Force Sensor

Improvement of vehicle interior noise is strongly desired in recent years from the viewpoint of ride comfort. There is structure-borne and airborne noise in vehicle interior noise. This paper focuses on structure-borne noise transferred through the spindle and describes the dynamic road forces of the rolling tire as a first step to reduce the structure-borne noise effectively. The dynamic road forces of the rolling tire caused by cleat impact are experimentally measured by using triaxial force sensor. The distribution of the dynamic road forces on rolling tire is clarified from the experimental results. In addition, the influences of rolling velocity and inflation pressure on dynamic road forces are also described in this paper.
