Fatigue Behavior Analysis of Plastic Parts

Fatigue failure life of HDPE, which is one of polymeric materials for automotive use, was analyzed in this work. From fatigue tests of normal and two-step loading, fatigue life of HDPE showed strong dependence on loading history. To prove this hypothesis, new damage value defined by viscoelastic properties of HDPE was proposed. As a result, this damage value turned out to be effective in prediction of fatigue life of HDPE.
