Development of a Jerk-Type DME Fuel System (Second Report)~Research of an Abnormal-Combustion for Engine Starting by a Leak From Injection Nozzle

The purpose of this work is to investigate occurrence of abnormal-combustion on DME engine verified, the possibility of purge mechanism to be avoided from viewpoint of prevention of abnormal combustion of a jerk-type, in-line DME injection system. (1) A leak quantity from the injection nozzle is very little verified by the observation result. (2) About 3 days later after engine stop without a fuel purge, abnormal combustion did not occur. (3) In case of a jerk-type, in-line DME injection system, it is found to be avoided the special purge mechanism from viewpoint of prevention of abnormal combustion. However, other examination is necessary concerning fuel purge from viewpoint of injection pump protection.
