Abstract
A levelset G-equation combustion model has been developed and implemented in a commercial CFD code to predict engine performances. Two key factors were taken into consideration in the model: turbulent flame brush thickness, and a liner relationship between turbulent flame brush thickness and turbulent burning velocity. The model was applied to test cases in a Spark Ignition engine. Good agreement with experimental heat release rate was obtained as a function of engine speed, load and spark timing.
