Abstract
The European Space Agency has sponsored a study for the definition of a ground facility for integrated simulation to support the preparation of future manned exploration missions. It is known as FIPES, Facility for Integrated Planetary Exploration Simulation. This paper describes the FIPES’ design requirements, its main elements, its intended operation and a first architectural implementation approach.
