Abstract
Tools and techniques that have been successfully applied in the development of automated transmissions are presented that reduce development time and improve engineering objectivity. These powertrain calibration aids have been produced to assist the development of powertrain control. They provide an insight into the fuel economy and emissions of the test vehicle on test cycles and allow the calibration engineers to develop the strategy and calibration to improve fuel economy, performance and driveability.
Significant improvements in process, reducing prototype vehicle and test stand requirements and reduction in calibration time have been achieved.
